2nd Biannual Sally Scholz Coastal Cleanup = 1,746 items and 95lbs removed!

Twenty-six dedicated volunteers joined Clean Oceans International for the 2nd Biannual Sally Scholz Coastal Cleanup, honoring the memory of Sally Scholz and her commitment to protecting our oceans.

By the Numbers

• 🗑️ 95 pounds collected — 87 lbs trash, 8 lbs recycling
• 🧩 1,746 debris items recorded, including:
  • 🧴 Plastic = 66% 
  • 🌬️ Weathered = 57% - shows how persistent plastic pollution remains in our coastal environment.

Interesting finds: a cast iron pan, window blinds, bicycle, cooler, and even a 1980s-era fish finder — a mix of everyday items and long-lost debris that tell their own story of how far and how long waste can travel.
