UC Davis Students visit COI March 27, 2025
This Spring, University of California Davis students from the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences visited Clean Oceans International as part of their spring break environmental outreach tour.
The group met with Education Director David Schwartz and Environmental Plastic Assessment Program (EPAP) Coordinator Patti Clark at the Santa Cruz Harbor for a day of learning and action.
The visit began with an overview of COI’s mission and goals, followed by an engaging conversation about the challenges of plastic pollution in shoreline environments and the creative solutions being developed to address them. After orientation, the students participated in a hands-on, quantitative plastic survey at Twin Lakes Beach.
Special thanks to Corinne Hawes, Student Leadership Program Coordinator in the Dean's Office, and to all the UC Davis students for their energy, curiosity, and inspiring commitment to sustainability!
