Earth Day, Santa Cruz 2023

HAPPY EARTH DAY, everyone!! Santa Cruz participated in its first Earth Day event since Covid - on April 22, 2023. Thousands of environmentally focused individuals gathered to celebrate our EARTH and learn more about what they can do to protect and restore the planet’s natural processes. COI was there to educate about the gargantuan problem of plastic pollution. We spoke to hundreds of people and garnered interest in helping to stem the tide of plastic pollution. Our audience learned about the potential benefits of portable plastic-to-fuel technology in communities worldwide. They also learned about COI’s aim to improve plastic waste assessment on beaches to better understand temporal trends in plastic waste. Many of those people are helping us on future endeavors!
