Mission Street Mural
Santa Cruz, CA
At COI, we are committed to reducing plastic pollution and promoting ocean health. The support and encouragement we receive from the community motivate us to keep pushing forward in this important work. We believe that meaningful change begins with conversation. That’s why we collaborated with a team of exceptionally talented artists to create a vibrant conversation starter—the Santa Cruz Community Clean Oceans Mural.
This 500-foot-long underwater masterpiece transforms the sound wall along Hwy 1/Mission Street at Bay Street in Santa Cruz, California. As the largest mural project in Santa Cruz’s history, it set the stage for ten additional murals in 2020. Led by Taylor Reinhold’s Fresh Made Crew, this project turned a once-bland public space into a cherished community landmark, all while keeping the dialogue about ocean conservation and the plastic pollution crisis alive.
Due to the pandemic and related school preferences, the "Donor Recognition Section" of the mural has been postponed, and we’re patiently awaiting the right time to proceed.
This mural’s striking beauty is designed to spark further conversations about our oceans and how we can protect them. If you’re inspired to support our mission, consider making a donation. The "DONATE" button is available on every page.
