FOOTPRINTS ON KATMAI
The film "Footprints on Katmai" reveals the alarming amount of shoes and other debris on a remote Alaskan island. Our partners at Oregon State University have sent over a dozen students to Kodiak, Alaska over the past five years to aid in the Katmai clean-up. Currently, four students are helping the Ocean Plastics Recovery Project to establish a facility to sort and recycle the collected waste using both mechanical and chemical processes. This includes utilizing the first small-scale, commercial-style Portable Plastic Waste Converter (PPWC) built in the US for Clean Oceans International, intended for research and educational purposes. This beautiful film emphasizes the global connectivity we share and our collective responsibility to address consumer waste.
